Phosphating
Phosphating is a chemical process that is used for treating the surface of the steel, where the soluble metal-phosphate layers can be formed on the base material. These layers are also absorbent and suitable as a conversion layer for subsequent coating, for example with powder with no further treatment. They are also ideal as temporary corrosion protection if subsequently treated with oil or passivated within a timeframe.
Applications
- Temporary corrosion protection for steel, which is to be stored for a limited period before further treatment
- Excellent for adhesion and subsequent surface coating
- Improves lubrications when cold forming steel through a variety of processes including extrusion and drawing
